A retrospective cohort study at a single institution involved 1441 adult patients who underwent deceased donor liver transplantation from January 2004 to June 2018. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 322 patients with cirrhosis and acute kidney injury (AKI) admitted to two tertiary care intensive care units between 2016 and 2018. The Acute Disease Quality Initiative's consensus defines AKI recovery as the return of serum creatinine to a value below 0.3 mg/dL less than the pre-existing level within seven days of the onset of AKI. Based on the Acute Disease Quality Initiative's consensus, recovery patterns were divided into three categories: 0-2 days, 3-7 days, and no recovery (AKI persisting for more than 7 days).
