Despite reported cases of well-leg compartment syndrome among urological and gynecological patients, no similar cases have been documented in patients treated with robot-assisted procedures for rectal cancer.
Robot-assisted surgery for rectal cancer in a 51-year-old man resulted in pain in both lower legs, which prompted an orthopedic surgeon to diagnose lower limb compartment syndrome. This factor led us to establish the supine positioning of patients during these surgical operations, later adjusting the patient's posture to the lithotomy position following intestinal preparation, commencing with rectal movement, during the latter part of the surgery.
