“Introduction IgA nephropathy (IgAN), a major component of chronic glomerulonephritis, causes end-stage renal disease in up to 50 % of affected patients [1]. They demonstrated that the steroid therapy induced the lowest level of proteinuria at 1 year of follow-up. We herein aimed to define the target level of proteinuria at 1 year after initiating steroid therapy to establish a prognostic threshold for a favorable renal survival of IgAN patients. Subjects and methods Patients and study design We collected the medical records from 169 patients with IgAN who received 6 months of steroid therapy between 2004 and 2010 in four affiliated hospitals of Jikei University School of Medicine, employing a historical cohort design.
